The Ben Nevis Station – Golden 1200 Hillclimb is the Fastest Show on Gravel, on New Zealand’s highest public road.

In the event’s debut in 2020 cars, bikes and off-roaders came from far and wide to attack this iconic road.

Spectator access for the two day event is FREE OF CHARGE.

We encourage you to come along and enjoy some of the best cars and drivers at our prime spectator point where you can see 3km (most) of the stage from one position.

  • Steep access road to the event over the Nevis Road. Please be prepared before hand.
  • Last access to camp area is 7am on Saturday 6th.
  • We encourage competitors and camping people to set up Friday (security on site from Friday until Sunday) and/or to arrive early Saturday morning.

Getting there

Access is to the top of the stage (finish line). The road name is ‘Nevis road’ and must be accessed from the Bannockburn end.

Once you enter the gravel road at the bottom of the hill, it is 14km to the end (access point) of the Golden 1200.

From there you will be directed by marshalls and given a free spectator information pack.
